The Madison Square Presbyterian Church was built on property originally part of a land grant made by the Spanish government to Joaquin Menchaca. Part of a block of land from this grant became property of I.A. Paschal, who then sold platted lots to Rev. William H. Buchanan. Rev. Buchanan then formed a church charter and began building the church that is still located at 319 Camden Street, San Antonio, TX 78215. The original building was finished in 1882, but a windstom destroyed part of the sanctuary in 1886. By November 1886, the church building had been reconstructed and a new cornerstone was installed that was reads: "Rebuilt November 1886." This cornerstone is to the right of the stairs leading into the main entrance of the church sanctuary. The Madison Square Presbyterian Church has remained at this location for over 100 years and is still a viable ministry to San Antonio, TX.
