This 13 year veteran died as the result of a vehicle collision with his official motorcycle on Coloma Road, Nov.12, 2008. He was 43 yrs.
The memorial is located near the appartments where he was struck.

The relatively new city P D contracted with the County for extra deputies. Officer Canfield organized motorcycle events. The Larry Canfield Memorial games at Herald, CA 95638 have become an event in his memory.
The intersection is at Coloma [four lanes + a turn lane] and the entrance to a large apartment compolex [200+ units]. The speed limit is either 35 or 40 mph. There are three lighted signals within line of sight, 1/2 mile? near a junior high school. There is an apt. sign on the exiting left side which momentarily blocks vision from WB traffic..
