The church and cloister of San Francisco (Sant Francesc in Catalan) in Mahon, was started in 1719 and finished in 1792. It is built over a Gothic church from the year 1459, dedicated to Santa Maria de Jesus of Nazareth.
The church has a nave, decorated with arches, Baroque style. There we find the chapel of the Conception, also baroque. The front is solid and has a Romanesque portal.
The cloister is square, with four floors in the middle there is a well with Baroque lines.
It was confiscated in 1835 and its functionality has changed over the years. It was a sailing school, then a public library, a high school , House of Mercy and, finally the Museum of Menorca.
