Rotherhithe is a fascinating area. It used to be the home of the Surrey Docks and so has many historical, technological and cultural links. The Mayflower set sail from Rotherhithe in 1620; It is the site of the world's first tunnel under a navigable river built by the father and son team of Marc and Isambard Brunel; It has close links with the Nordic countries Norway, Sweden and Finland; It was the main importer of timber from Canada; It was subject to bombing and a great fire in World War II; It has a new library in the form of an inverted pyramid; It even has links to Gulliver's Travels and to Phobos, one of Mars' moons.
And if all of that culture and history is too much for you, then you can always go bowling.
