The multicoloured lights next to the National War Memorial make it appear much brighter than it was in reality. Behind the Memorial, the clock high in the tower of the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada can be seen. This is always a stunning spot to take a photo but I found it to be much more dramatic, even magical, at night.
There are no parking spots next to the Memorial. As in any big cities, parking is at a premium. The parking coordinates provided are for the City of Ottawa's Parking Garage, 70 Clarence Street in the Byward Market.
The best time to view Ottawa at night will depend on when you happen to be here. In winter, it is dark early starting around 4:30 pm while in the summer, the sunset is after 8:00 pm.
