This Obelisk stands tall at the top of the hill in Great Lines Heritage Park. It was built by the commonwealth War Commissions originally to remember the service men and women from the Royal Navy who lost their lives, mostly at sea, and have no graves.
The area was expanded after the second world war to include those who were lost at sea in the this war, and again have no graves.
Around the enclose, and on the base of the obelisk are the names of the 18,617 persons who this obelisk represents. Full details can be seen from the web link below.
