As far as I could tell, there are two possible businesses for this pole and the one across the street. They would be Larry's Barber Shop & Larry Bussard's Barber Shop. Perhaps this waymark is for the actual business and the one across the street is where he lives and he thought it might be fun to put one outside his Victorian home. I have the address for this one at approximately 21 West Main Street.
The pole is a spinner with a globe on top, 8 or 9 feet off the ground, attached to the right of the main entrance to this modest dwelling. The pole is in excellent condition . The building contributes to the MIddletown Historic District. I wonder if they needed special dispensation to mount the pole outside of the dwelling. The shop has a white washed front, resembling a cute bungalow with cookie-cutter trim attached to the a frame of the roof, extending over the entrance. One-story, charming and quaint..who wouldn't want to get a hair cut here?
