The Palomar observatory has a variety of telescopes, including the huge 200-inch Hale telescope, the 48-inch Oschin telescope, and several smaller scopes involved in interferometry research, planet searches and adaptive optics experiments.
The construction of the site was supervised by George Ellery Hale who worked tirelessly for funding and other resources until his death in 1938.
