This cairn is located in Huronia Park on Fox St. in Penetanguishene. It commemorates the capture of the US ships Tigress and Scorpion during the War of 1812.

The Tigress and the Scorpion, US warships, were captured off of Michilimackinac in 1814 by parts of a regiment of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. According to the Rush-Bagot Treaty of 1817, limiting the number of warships each could have in each Great Lake and Lake Champlain, any excess warships were to be dismantled. Accordingly, the Tigress and Scorpion were sunk near this spot in Penetanguishene Bay.
