Last week police launched an investigation after residents complained about the premises thought to be operating near two schools.

Fears about the dungeon, which offers clients the services of a 'mistress' providing a range of domination services without any sexual contact, were raised through social networking site Facebook.

The dungeon was advertised on the internet but one of the websites associated with it was no longer accessible and carried the message: "Dungeon rental is no longer available".

It had said it was "based on the outskirts of Wrexham and easily accessible from the A483 and A5 and local train station" in a "discreet, tree-lined location".

The site also said: "You can book the dungeon for anytime from an hour, a day, to a weekend."You can use the dungeon facilities uninterrupted, or if you desire a mistress can be on hand if you require assistance.

"Rental is £40 per hour for the first two hours, reducing to £30 per hour thereafter."Concerned parents say they believe the premises are actually in Chirk, close to both the village's infant and primary schools.

One mother, who has a child at each of the schools but did not wish to be named, said: "There has been a lot of concern about it among the parents.
"What is very worrying is the fact that this place is very close to the schools and you could have weirdos going in and out.
"I don't think what they are doing there is illegal and if it was in a remote place it wouldn't be so bad, but it's very close to these schools," she added.

Chirk South councillor Terry Evans said: "I must have had about six phone calls about this last week and three on Sunday.
"I have been in touch with the council's public protection department and they say there is nothing illegal about it.
"It appears that everyone is avoiding the issue, but parents are up in arms at both schools.
"I can understand the real concerns they have," he added.

On Wednesday, officers were seen in the area around Chirk Infants School talking to families.
A police spokesman said: "There has been an increased and more visible police presence in the area in an attempt to reassure the local community that we are aware of the situation and are listening to their concerns."

One mother, who did not wish to be named, said there is now talk of a protest demonstration.
