This 'First of its Kind' plaque is for the first (ship) launching in Canada. It's on a large cairn on Highway 304 on Cape Forchu, southwest of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

On this, the site of the
first launching on the country,
1764, this monument is erected.
In proud memory of
all the seafaring sons
of Yarmouth Country
who, "Going down to the sea
in ships", by their outstanding
seamanship and valour,
brought undying honour
to Yarmouth
in every port around
the world.

Yarmouth County Historical
Society, 1961
