This station is a Massachusetts Department of Public Works standard traverse station disk, located in Chelmsford, MA. It is located along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail, formerly the Framingham and Lowell branch of the New Haven Railroad (NYNH&HRR). It is one of several such marks along the trail. The MAGS Datasheet gives the following description:
Stamping: 79 T
Marked By: MAGS DISK IN BOULDER
Description: ON THE NORTHWEST SIDE OF THE NYNH&H RAILROAD (BOSTON DIVISION), 14 FT NORTHWEST OF THE NORTHWEST RAIL, ABOUT 0.7 MI NORTHEAST OF DEPOT, 2900 FT NORTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF MAPLE STREET, 26 FT NORTHEAST OF A 8 INCH HICKORY.
The description is adequate, except that the rails are no longer in place here, so change the distance of 14-ft from the northwest rail to 16-ft from the center of the trail. The depot no longer exists, a Lockheed-Martin building now stands there. Finally, the mark is 271-ft north on the trail from the center of a bridge over a stream.
The boulder is prominent, therefore easy to locate.
