The Forces of the Northern Range Self-Guiding Trail is a half mile long boardwalk loop trail with ten interpretive signs dealing with the geology, view, wildlife and plants. The trail is located along the Grand Loop Road about eight miles east of Mammoth.
This sign discusses Yellowstone’s vast northern range and the variety of mammals that inhabit it. There are movable pages on the sign which describe some of the wildlife including elk, mule deer, coyote, red fox, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, grizzly bear, black bear, Uinta ground squirrel, yellow-bellied marmot, and bison.
