Long Description:
Connecting Mary Street on the upper end with Jane Street on the lower end, these steps allowed residents from the houses on the upper slopes to descend down to the "flats" where the industries and work places were located. To reach the "flats" from Jane st, residents used a pedestrian tunnel that went under the railroad tracks at Handler St (tunnel is now closed with a wood board).
