"BORTH’S multi-million pound coastal defence scheme is already protecting the village after stopping the High Street being flooded during recent storms, residents have told contractors.

Storms hit Borth in mid September, leaving residents fearing that high sea levels and high winds would lead to the High Street being flooded. So they were relieved to see that the work so far completed on the scheme prevented any flooding.

Ray Jones, of contractors Bam Nuttall, said: “We believe, from what residents were saying to us, that the storm on 12 September would have flooded the High Street.

“They said they haven’t seen seas that high for many years, and that if we hadn’t completed the work that we have, the High Street would have flooded.” "
