The Lithuanian Wayside Cross is a 30' by 16' by 5' ornate cross, in the Lithuanian folk tradition, erected on a square 5' by 2" high concrete base. The cross is made cedar wood and sculpted by Joseph Ambrozaitis to a design by Simas Augaitis. It was erected on the grounds outside and to the west of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church at 53 Capitol Avenue in Hartford in June 1972.
An embellished Latin cross has a gabled shrine with a sculpted head of Jesus located at the beams crossing point. The cross has symmetrical decorated wood carvings of six tulips, which symbolizes the land and the Apostles, below the horizontal beam and additional carvings above the beam. Below the shrine on the vertical beam are carvings of a flame, image of the Madonna and Child, and a knight on horseback wielding a sword. The cross is stabilized with four scrolled iron supports. The base is surrounded by a matching cedar fence.
