The observatory was built in 1956.
There are 17 volunteers working at the observatory.
Since 2010 there is a new 6" telescope with a focus of 2.25 meters.
There's one very special thing about this observatory: it has its own planetarium as well. This is the only observatory in Baden-Württemberg with an own planetarium. The planetarium is operated by hand.
