The benchmark is a San Francisco Water Department bronze disk stamped No. 72 embedded in a metal bracketed concrete post next to a wooden post of a fence bordering the Mission Peak Regional Preserve and the San Francisco Water District Land. There are several ways to get here: Hike in from Sunol Regional Wilderness and head west for approximately 4 miles on the Ohlone Wilderness Trail, or hike behind the north side of Mission Peak from at least 3 different entrances and get on the Eagle Trail, then head northeast on the Laurel Loop Trail toward the Ohlone Wilderness Trail. Elevation is estimated to be around 2000'.
