Puss in Boots was one of several now legendary characters created in the short stories of Charles Perrault. Puss in Boots arrived in the 1697 publication of Perrault's "Stories or Tales of Past Times with Morals: Tales of Mother Goose". The character seems to be based on a similar story from the Panchatantra, a 5th Century book of Hindu stories. Puss...is an extraordinary cat who is devoted to helping his master improve his state in life.
Perrault also created the characters of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood. Read more about Puss at (
