The city walls are a Roman portion of Chester that has had minor modernisation work done to it over the years. This part dates back to around 1800 when it was built by a local landowner to allow carts through the wall.

The city walls are a Roman portion of Chester that has had minor modernisation work done to it over the years. This part dates back to around 1800 when it was built by a local landowner to allow carts through the wall.
It is made of a grainy redish stone and looks in better condition than the stones around it that date to around 100 to 200AD. It looks like they used new materials to make this bridge, not re-using the materials they must have removed.
There are three pictures in the gallery, the first two are of the bridge, the last is of the gateway with a gate that is for pedestrians to walk under the walled area attached.
