A Casa-Museu Bissaya Barreto reúne uma colecção de azulejos portugueses, porcelanas da Companhia das Índias e pintura contemporânea portuguesa. Inaugurada em 1986, a Casa-Museu - residência, durante cerca de três décadas, do cirurgião e professor Bissaya Barreto -, está instalada no edifício revivalista, neobarroco, projectado pelo arquitecto Fiel Viterbo.
No Museu podem ser apreciadas as principais peças reunidas por Bissaya Barreto, ao longo de 50 anos.

A PESSOA
Fernando Baeta Bissaya Barreto Rosa (Castanheira de Pera, 29 de Outubro de 1886 — Lisboa, 16 de Setembro de 1974), mais conhecido por Bissaya Barreto, foi um professor de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra e político. Entre outras funções, foi deputado à Assembleia Nacional Constituinte (1911), dirigente do Partido Republicano Evolucionista e depois da União Liberal Republicana. Após o golpe de Estado de 28 de Maio de 1926 aderiu à União Nacional, de que foi um destacado dirigente.

THE PLACE
The Bissaya Barreto House Museum contains a collection of Portuguese tiles, porcelain from the Companhia das Índias and contemporary Portuguese painting – the main items collected by the surgeon and professor Bissaya Barreto over 50 years.

Inaugurated in 1986, the Museum – for almost thirty years the residence of Bissaya Barreto – is housed in a neo-baroque revivalist building designed by the architect Fiel Viterbo.

THE NAME
Fernando Rosa Barreto Baeta Bissaya (Castanheira de Pera, 29 October 1886 - Lisbon, September 16, 1974), better known by Bissaya Barreto, was a professor of medicine at the University of Coimbra and political. Among other functions, was deputy to the National Constituent Assembly (1911), leader of the Republican Party and then the Union Evolutionary Liberal Republican. After the coup of May 28, 1926 joined the National Union, which was an outstanding leader.
