The roman church of St. Michael is located on the rocky hill above village of Drazovce, Slovakia, close to town of Nitra.
The church is consecrated to
St Michael archangel.
It was built in 12th century and is considered as one of the most valueable roman landmarks in Slovakia.
The church is displayed on the backside of obsolete bank note with denomination 50 slovak crowns.
The motif on the back side of the banknote illustrates two hands, with the first seven letters of the old Slavonic alphabet "Hlaholika" between them,
as a symbol of the gift the two saints (St. Cyril and St. Method) brought to the ancient Slavs.
The symmetrically reversed silhouette of the medieval church at Drazovce (District of Nitra) symbolizes the dawn of Christianity in our country.
The currency of Slovak Crown was introduced in 1993, after split of Czechoslovakia to two separate countries of Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Slovak Crown was substituted by Euro as of 2009 January, 1st when Slovakia joined European Monetary Union. Coins and bank notes are not valid any longer.
Kostol svateho Michala Archanjela sa nachádza na skalnatom kopci nad Drazovcami, mestskou castou Nitry.
Je zasvateny svatemu Michalovi Archanjelovi. Pochadza z 12. storocia a predstavuje typ romanskeho emporoveho kostola s jednolodovým priestorom ukoncenym polkruhovou apsidou.
