First Presbyterian Church

Marker # 3B 41

Text: “The oldest church building in Gallatin in continuous existence, this church was organized October 25, 1828. The building was erected in 1836-37 and is an example of early Greek Revival architecture. The sanctuary was used as a hospital for Federal troops during the Civil War.”

Marker is easy to get to. Located on Main Street between the intersections with Foster Street and Locust Avenue. The roads can get a bit crowded, but public parking is plentiful in this area. There are several markers (and consequentially, much history) in this part of Gallatin, all within easy walking distance. If you are considering finding a lot of markers, I would consider reserving a day for here. I wish I had, but I was in a rush because of fading daylight.
