Well-known as the battleground for James T. Kirk and the Gorn captain. Officially known as Vasquez Rocks Natural Area and Nature Center, it is also known as "Kirk's Rock" and "Gorn Rock".

Vasquez Rocks is named after notorious bandit Tiburcio Vásquez, who used the rocky region to elude capture from California law enforcement in 1873 and 1874.
This magnificent rock formation has also been seen in "Blazing Saddles" (Outlaw sign-up scene), "The Magnificent Seven Ride Again", "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (Sleestak Diner scene), "Power Rangers Turbo" (command center), "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" (Bill & Ted's death scene), "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "The Man from UNCLE" among many other.
It is run by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation.
