The Jack and Wanda McGraw Pavilion is located near the center of campus. It is one of the areas of the Lawson Commons, which also includes the Freede Clock Tower to the west. This is an 8,000 sq. ft. rectangular area with a concrete and brick inlaid flooring. It is covered with a tent-like canvas canopy, with open sides. The area is supplied with numerous tables, chairs and sofas, for students, alumni and friends of the University to visit or study. The area is also a vanue for school events. The surrounding area is grass, with several flower gardens.
On the east side of the pavilion, an engraved granite monument tells the story of the McGraws. It reads:
Jack and Wanda McGraw Jack and Wanda, married for more than 51 years until Jack's passing in 2004, were a model Christian couple. Successful oil and gas entrepreneurs in Midland, Texas, the McGraws were fully decoted to God, to their family and to others. Their service to others was legendary. Jack was a church elder for 20 years and served both as a director for the Midland Christian School and as a Trustee for Oklahoma Christian University. With Wanda as an equal partner, they blessed literally thousands...missionaries, students, educators and the less fortunate with their time, love and resources. Jack's own words say it well, "The Bible says you are blessed to be a blessing to others. I love Christian education because it blesses so many people. In recognition of the great blessing this couple has been to countless others the University gratefully dedicates "The Jack and Wanda McGraw Pavilion" in their honor.
