Survey Disk A-37, MY2078 - Boston, MA - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

In Boston, at an entranceway to Boston Common, is a vertical control disk.

The disk is mounted on the stone base for a monument commemorating the 300th Anniversary of Boston's founding. There is a large bronze image on the side facing the Common. There are two entrances. The disk is mounted left of the bronze image, when facing it, about 1 foot from the edge of a low wall, and a few inches above the average ground level.

The description from NGS is as follows:

IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE THIRD ENTRANCE, AND MEMORIAL MONUMENT TO BOSTON COMMON PARK ALONG BEACON STREET, DIRECTLY ACROSS STREET FROM SPRUCE STREET, 0.05 MILE EAST OF CHARLES, STREET, 38 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF STREET, 24 FEET NORTH-EAST OF A CONCRETE LAMP POLE.

The marking is as follows:

Along the inner edge of the disk is a standard penalty statement and "Washington, D.C."
Inside of that is "Vertical Control Mark - National Geodetic Survey"
Inside of that is "The Director"
The center of the disk:
