This stairway leads from the East Peak parking lot to the summit of Mount Tamalpais, California. The sign at the beginning of the trail says 0.3 miles to the summit. The elevation gain is a little over 200 feet from the parking lot.
It is a mixed stairway, consisting of first, a 200 yard steeply, inclined boardwalk, which I counted as ZERO steps, followed by a series of 60+ 4x4s and wood planks placed in the hillside, which finally turns into a rugged, and irregular rock stepway to the summit lookout building. I counted about 80 rocks designed to be used for ascent and many more that left good footing to be desired. The rock steps have no handrail, while the plank stairs and boardwalk to have a metal handrail.
Coordinates are at the top of the inclined boardwalk where the bottom of the plank stairway begins.
number of stairs (minimum 60): 145.00
stair landing (check if yes): yes
