Eglise de la Trinité dite "Abbaye-aux-Dames", CAEN:
L'Abbaye-aux-Dames à Caen se compose de deux parties : l'église de la Trinité et les bâtiments conventuels.
L'église de la Trinité a été fondée par la reine Mathilde vers 1060 en même temps que son époux, Guillaume le Bâtard (futur Guillaume le Conquérant), fondait l'Abbaye-aux-Hommes et l'église Saint-Etienne. L'église de la Trinité est un chef-d’œuvre d'art roman normand. Sa nef dépouillée s'orne de magnifiques élévations à deux niveaux. Son chœur sans déambulatoire abrite le tombeau de la reine Mathilde depuis le 1er novembre 1083.
Les bâtiments conventuels sont le siège du Conseil Régional de Basse-Normandie depuis 1986.

The Abbaye-aux-Dames in Caen consists of two parts: the church of the Trinity and the conventual buildings.
The church of the Trinity was established by queen Mathilde by 1060 at the same time as her husband, William the Bastard ( future William the Conqueror ), established Abbaye-aux-Hommes and church Saint-Etienne. The church of the Trinity is a masterpiece of Norman Romanesque art. Its bare nave is decorated with magnificent rises at two levels. Its chorus without ambulatory shelters includes the grave of queen Mathilde since November 1st, 1083.
The conventual buildings are the siege of the Regional Council of Basse-Normandie since 1986.
