One of seven zinc headstones in Holy Cross Cemetery, Halifax, Nova Scotia. This one is dedicated to members of the BOWLER family.

A zinc spire mounted on three zinc plinths and a concrete base. The lower plinth is simulated stone, the second plinth has removable zinc plaques and the third plinth is smooth with a ridge around the middle and the family name BOWLER on three sides and an epitaph on the fourth. The lower section of the spire has symbols on each side while the upper section is draped with curtains on each side. The spire was likley topped with a cross but it is missing. The headstone is about 6 feet high.

Reference the 1881 census, Bridget BOWLER , age 55, was a shopkeeper of Irish descent. Head of household was Maurice BOWLER. He is listed as age 55, occupation truckman, also of Irish descent. Children are: Maurice aged 17 yrs, Margaret aged 19 yrs and Ellen aged 20 yrs. All living in Ward No. 1, Halifax, NS.
