This station, a U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey standard bench mark disk, is located in New Milford, CT. It is set in a concrete post just north of a railroad underpass bridge, and west of the Housatonic Railroad tracks. The NGS 1960 datasheet description is as follows:
DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1960
3.5 MI N FROM BROOKFIELD.
TO REACH FROM THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 7 AND STATION ROAD, IN
BROOKFIELD, FAIRFIELD COUNTY, GO NORTH ON ROUTE 7 (MAIN CONCRETE
HIGHWAY) 2.85 MILES THEN TURN EAST AND CROSS A BRIDGE OVER A
BROOK, TURN SOUTH AT ROAD FORK, CONTINUE SOUTH TO BRIDGE UNDER
RAILROAD, 45 FEET WEST OF THE WEST RAIL, 35 FEET NORTH OF BRIDGE,
16 FEET SOUTH AND 3 FEET WEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A
CULTIVATED FIELD, AND LEVEL WITH THE RAIL. A STANDARD DISK,
STAMPED S 15 1935 AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING
6-INCHES ABOVE GROUND.
The go-to instructions are in error: after 'CROSS A BRIDGE', it should read:
-OVER THE STILL RIVER, TO A -T- JUNCTION. TURN NORTH AT THE JUNCTION AND CONTINUE NORTH TO A BRIDGE OVER A RAILROAD TRACK AND THE MARK ON THE LEFT.
The rest of the description is good, except the the cultivated field is now a golf course, the edge of which is several feet west from the mark.
