The Battle of Medway comes in a close second to the Battle of Hstings, but not many people have heard of this. The Romans led by Emperor Claudius, who came to power in 43 AD and was anxious for a military conquest to establish his reign. This British Tribes led by prince Caractacus built an army of 150,000 Britons beside the river Medway, thinking that this point was a stronghold that the Romans would fear. However, the Romans took the height advantage on the nearby hills to plan their attack.
Swimming across the river, and cutting down the British chariots left the British in dismay. However, the British fought for their lives but were eventually beaten back. Prince Caractacus fled to the midlands and Cornwall, but was eventually betrayed to the Romans.
