The Chicopee Soldier's Memorial has 6' high bronze female figure standing on a 6' high granite base. The sculpture was created by Melzar Hunt Mosman and cast at the T. F. McGann & Sons Company, foundy. It was dedicated to the citizens of Chicopee who served during the World War (I) on May 31, 1921.

A classical female figure is wearing a long folded garment which reaches the ground and open-toed sandals. She is standing holding an inscribed shield, which held in her left hand and propped against her upper left leg. A laurel wreath is held vertically in her right hand. The granite base has three plaques, one has a bas relief sculpture of an eagle perched on a dedication tablet. The other two contain the names of those who were killed in battle, died of wounds, died of disease, or lost at sea during the World War.

The shield is inscribed:

TO MY
BRAVE AND
LOYAL SONS
WHO HAVE
FOUGHT FOR
HUMANITY
LIBERTY
JUSTICE AND
PEACE
The dedication plaque is inscribed:

CHICOPEE
ERECTS THIS MONUMENT
IN GRATEFUL MEMORY
OF ALL HER SONS
WHO SERVED
ON LAND AND SEA
IN THE WORLD WAR
1914-1918
