Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Assunção is a Catholic temple in Pedrogão Grande.

After the wars of the Christian reconquest the region of Pedrogão rande was repopulated by order of King D. Afonso Henriques. The king donated this land to his bastard son, D. Pedro Afonso, who in 1206 gave the town its first charter.
Dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, the parish church of Pedrógão Grande dates this time. The type of the original temple is unkown.

In the sixteenth century, due to the destruction of the temple, this was the subject of works of transformation of its structure.
By mid-century the façade of the temple was changed. In 1553 the town hired Baltazar de Magalhães to build a massive tower of three bodies in the middle of the main façade.

Although of late construction, this model of façade, with salient addorsed turret in the axis of the nave divided into three floors, is one of the types used in the Gothic Manueline architecture.

The tower was repaired in 1736 by King John V, due to the degraded state it was in at the time.

Structurally the church follows the model of the mendicant churches, with staggered naves, wooden roof and vaulted chancel.

In the seventeenth century, a new decoration program was executed in the chancel. That space was decorated with polychrome patterned tiles. The altarpiece carved which replaced the part of the sixteenth century by Jean de Rouen was executed in the eighteenth century,
while the side altars were built.
