Really beautiful fountain. Completed in 1921, the wading pool was added in 1935-36. The entire piece was redesigned in 1963. Given to the little children of New Orleans by Mrs. Chapman N. Hyams.
The fountain is located just inside the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. There is a $3.00 fee to enter the Carousel Gardens portion of Park.
The official description of the fountain states:
A fountain comprised of a wading pool and four groups of figures. At one end, above a stepped platform, a mother is seated, holding a young child in her lap. On the platform to her proper right is a small girl who has garland draped over her shoulders. The girl's proper left hand draws the end of the garland out of the water. To the mother's proper left, a young boy is seated on the platform. He holds a small dog in his proper left arm, as his proper right arm reaches out to touch the water below. At the other end of the pool, an older boy rests against a tree stump with a salamander crawling on it, and dips his proper right foot into the pool
