The new Convention Centre has an epic glass face, an ellipse that curves from side to side and shimmers from top to bottom like the rays of the sun reflected by wavelets on a lake surface. The striking building has 1,036 triangular panes of glass inserted in a free-form system of steel tubes. Incredibly, no two are alike.

Ottawa's shiny new convention centre has been referred to as a "glass spaceship on the Rideau Canal," but the landscape that surrounds it incorporates the city's past as much as its future.
