A piano is a percussion instrument that uses a set of adjacent depressible levers that cause a hammer to strike strings. Usually the hammers are covered in felt and the strings are made of steel.
The keyboard forms just part of the piano, the main body has to contain the strings and a sounding board. The full piano would be too large to put on the wall, but the keyboard is instantly recognisable as being part of a piano and easily represents the whole instrument.
The bar is just off the Leidesplein, one of the busiest and popular centres for nightlife in Amsterdam. It is on the road called Leidse Kruis Straat.
