The Stratford City Hall sits in an island in the middle of three streets. A picture of the CNHS Plaque is in the gallery.
The original building was built in 1857 but burned down in 1898. Construction began on the present building, designed by architect George. W. King, and the building pictured opened in 1900. In the early 1970's the town was prepared to tear down this structure and replace it with a standard square office complex. It was the action of citizens and petitions that saved the structure and led to its Historic Site Designation.
