Earnscliffe is picturesquely sited on a cliff at the edge of the Ottawa River. This 19th-century villa, built of local stone, is set within landscaped grounds and faces Sussex Drive on Ottawa’s ceremonial route. The charming Gothic Revival house is now the residence of the British High Commissioner in Canada.
The house is a National Historic Site of Canada, and the location of a plaque erected by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada, but since it is a diplomatic residence, it is closed to visitors." The photographs accompanying this waymark were taken from outside the locked gate and from an alternate site nearby. This other location is at the following coordinates: "N45 26.133 W75 41.950.
The official plaque is not available but I came across the actual plaque when surfing the Internet. I have added a photograph of it in the Photo Gallery.
