This historical marker is on the side of a school which experienced many children being sent to death camps during World War II.

located on a wall of the Ecole Communale de Paris, this marker reads:
"A LA MEMOIRE DES ELEVES DE CETTE ECOLE
DEPORTES DE 1942 A 1944 PARCE QUE NES JUIFS, VICTIMES INNOCENTES DE LA BARBARIE NAZIE AVEC LA COMPLICITE DU GOVERNMENT VICHY.
ILS FURENT EXTERMINES DANS LES CAMPS DE LA MORT.
140 INFANTS VIVAIENT DANS LE 2EME.
3 Avril 2004
NE LES OUBLIONS JAMAIS"
which with the help of an online translator, my best take at an English version would be:
"In memory of the students in this school deported from 1942 to 1944 because they were born Jews, innocent victims of Nazi barbarism with the complicity of the Vichy Government. They were exterminated in the death camps. 140 infants lived in the 2ND.
April 3, 2004
Never forget."
I'm not sure what the reference to the 140 infants means.
I don't speak or read French... so, I did not know what I had found until I got home and did an online translation..and of course, the situation was barbaric. My hope is that the victims are remembered somewhere else...with something more substantive. This marker seems insufficient...but, at least it's there.
