In Acton, within the Nashoba Brook Conservation Area, is the Travel Through Time Trail. This trail is a loop along the Nashoba Brook, with several stops along the way. One stop, by an old dam and sluceway, is a kiosk with four panels. Two of the panels concern the habitat surrounding Nashoba Brook.

The first panel is titled "Life Along the Nashoba." One the panel, there is a beautiful artist drawing of the river with plants along its bank. There is a quote from Henry David Thoreau just under the title. The text around the drawing is general information about river ecosystems. There are five inset drawings with examples of the life that you might find along the brook - two birds two insects, and one plant - with accompanying descriptive text.

The second panel is titled "Beyond the Banks." The subjects on this panel include: Topography, Our Neolithic Ancestors, During Colonial Times, and The Indomitable New England Forest. The last subject discusses how the forest around the brook is in transition and also discusses what animals you may find there.

The Nashoba Brook Conservation Area is a municipal owned property north of the center of town. There are several entrances - I started from the parking area off Wheeler Lane, about a quarter mile north of this location.
