Exilé par Napoléon à cause de l’article qu’il a écrit dans le "Mercure de France", Chateaubriand achète, le 22 août 1807, le domaine de la Vallée-aux-Loups.
Chateaubriand fait entreprendre des travaux de réparation dans la maison, et s’y installe avec Mme de Chateaubriand.
Il aménagea le domaine et créa le parc de la Vallée-aux-Loups sur 14 hectares.
Il y écrit ses "Mémoires d’Outre-Tombe" dans la tour Velléda au milieu du parc.
Déchu de ses fonctions de ministre, il se retrouve dans une situation financière catastrophique. Le domaine de la Vallée-aux-Loups est vendu.
Chateaubriand vécut à la Vallée-aux-Loups de 1807 à 1818. Aujourd’hui, la maison a été complètement restaurée à l’image de ce qu’elle était quand Chateaubriand y vivait.
Propriété du Département des Hauts-de-Seine, elle fait partie du Parc départemental de la Vallée-aux-Loups.
Horaires d’ouverture: Du mardi au samedi de 10h à 12h et de 14h à 18h. Dimanche de 11h à 18h.
Visite gratuite du parc toute l'année.
Visite de la maison de Chateaubriand: 4,50 € (dimanches et jours fériés: 1,50 €, gratuit le 1er dimanche du mois).

He fitted out the domain and created the park of Vallée-aux-Loups on 14 hectares.
He writes his "Mémoires d’Outre-Tombe" in the tower Velléda in the middle of the park.
Deposed of his offices of Minister, he meets in a catastrophic financial situation. The domain of the "Vallée-aux-Loups" is sold.
Chateaubriand lived in the "Vallée-aux-Loups" from 1807 till 1818. Today, the house was completely restored just like what it was when Chateaubriand lived there.
Property of the Department of the "Hauts-de-Seine", it is a part of the departmental Park of the "Vallée-aux-Loups".
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am till 12 am and from 2 pm till 6 pm. On Sunday from 11 am till 6 pm.
Free visit of the park all year long.
Visit of the house of Chateaubriand: 4,50 € (on Sundays and holidays: 1,50 €, free on 1st Sunday of the month).
