Located on the southeast side of the town of Anadarko, the Plains Apache tribal headquarters consists of several brick buildings along E. Colorado Drive. The tribe has a formal government, structured as a business committee, since 1966. The original Kiowa-Comamche-Apache reservation was established in 1867, and ended in 1901 at the time of allotment.
In the complex of buildings are the Administration building, a casino, an Elder Nutrition Center and Food Distribution Center, and a vocational rehabilitation office. There is a smoke shop, and offices for their Tax Commission and Gaming Commission.
The Plains Apache have an organized Apache Blackfeet Society, which focuses on language retention. There is an annual Apache Youth Culture Camp also. The tribal population in 2000 was 1802.
