The caboose is located along the Old Plank Road (bike) Trail. Their website at (visit link) says:
"Caboose Park

Located in historic Matteson, Caboose Park, with its red Illinois Central caboose, is symbolic of the railroad heritage that harkens back to the original settlement of the community in the mid 1800s. Just a block west of the overpass carrying the Illinois Central tracks over the Joliet and Northern Indiana right-of-way (now the OPRT).

Now, this park serves as a parking area to access the trail and often as a starting point for the annual Memorial Day Parade. Venture off the trail here to tour historic Matteson."

This caboose really needs a serious rehabbing.

Current Use: park display, although not very becoming Type Of Caboose: Cupola, "Standard"
