Art student Barbora Dausova has created a statue of former president Vaclav Havel that was put on display in Prague's iconic Slavia cafe at the Vltava embankment.
The statue was created as a final work in the studio of professor Jiri Beranek in the West Bohemian University in Plzen.
Dausova told CTK she wanted to make a statue of an author rather than a politician. This is why she chose a colour resembling paper, she added.
The life-size statue is made of polyester resin. Fragments of Havel's literary works are on the jacket the statue has over its shoulder.
"I wanted to pay homage and respect to him as I highly esteem him. I wanted to create a statue that would celebrate him," Dausova said at the unveiling ceremony.
She said she had not never met Havel and made the statue on the basis of photos and data on him.
