The Gatineau River is a river in western Quebec, Canada, which rises in lakes north of the Baskatong Reservoir and flows south to join the Ottawa River at the city of Gatineau, Quebec. The river is 386 km (239.8 mi) long and drains an area of 23,700 km².
The Ottawa River rises from its source in Lake Capimitchigama, in the Laurentian Mountains of central Quebec, and flows west to Lake Timiskaming. From there, it flows southeast to Ottawa and Gatineau before draining into the Lake of Two Mountains and the St. Lawrence River at Montreal. The total length of the river is 1,271 kilometers (790 mi); it drains an area of 146,300 km2, 65% in Quebec and the rest in Ontario, with a mean discharge of 1,950 m3/s.
The parking coordinates provided will bring you very close to the Gatineau River from where you will be able to see the river emptying in the Ottawa River. The confluence can be seen from the East as well as the West side of the river. It can also be observed from the Ottawa side of the Ottawa River from the Rockliffe Look-out. There is a bike path on the East side of the Gatineau River.
