The stations of the cross were built in 1755-1762 by countess Benedikta Cejkova, mother-in-law of count Ignatius of Unwert, owner of Mnisek. In the second half of 20th century the Skalka site became devastated and the paintings inside the shrines were destroyed.
Currently the site is under repair - as a temporary solution, the local parish held an art contest for pictures to be placed into the shrines. The contest took place annually in 2001-2005 and the mosaic pictures from the last year have been left there.
