In Acton, within the Nashoba Brook Conservation Area, is a USGS River Gauging Station.

The station is designated number 01097300 on the USGS gaging station.

From the Wheeler Lane parking lot, the closest access point from the road, take the left fork of the path to Nashoba Brook about 200 ft down. There is a foot bridge at this location.

Just before reaching the bridge, there is a green shed with a solar panel and antennae on the top that is a typical USGS installation. There is no sign anywhere to identify the shed, and the door is locked.

At the bridge, there is an analog vertical staff on the far stream bank, upstream of the bridge. There a pipe on the nearside bank, which probably has wires in it for the instruments. On a rock above the pipe is a bolt in the rock and a painted orange ring around it.

Nashoba Brook is not that large a stream. The depth is approximately 2-4 feet deep. There is a dam upstream a tenth mile that has no way of controlling the flow.

Secondary coordinates given are for the parking lot at the end of Wheeler Lane.
