In Acton, within the Nashoba Brook Conservation Area, is a vertical staff within the Nashoba Brook, attached to a concrete block that has a survey disk on the top.

The disk has the following embossed on it: just inside the edge is "U.S. Geological Survey - Reference Mark." Inside of this is the usual penalty statement. Inside of that is "Gauging Station" surrounding a circle. There is also a circular hole off to one side of the circle.

The disk is in good condition. There are slight creases here and there, and the disk surface has a red-orange hue to it from a coating of paint that has worn off in places.

The location is within the Nashoba Brook Conservation Area, and is on the west side of the Travel Through Time Trail loop. It is about a quarter mile south of the Wheeler Lane parking lot and from that direction, the disk will be on the left, before you reach a series of boardwalks. This mark may be at the same location as "Gauging Station" designated on the USGS quad.
