Near the gates to one of the world's most fantastic national parks, Jasper National Park, you will find Yellowhead County. It has some of the most spectacular countryside that the province of Alberta has to offer.

The highway between Hinton, to the southeast, and Grande Cache and northwards to Dawson Creek is one of the most scenic highways in Alberta and the shortest route to Mile Zero of the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek, British Columbia.

The county's website describes the area as follows:

"Yellowhead County abounds in open wilderness, mountain terrain, rivers, streams and lush agricultural areas. Visitors can stay in one of our many campgrounds, guest ranches, lodges or country bed and breakfasts as they explore all our region has to offer. The Towns of Edson and Hinton can also be used as a base to stage day long adventures into the County.

The active outdoors person has plenty of opportunity for touring, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ATVing, white water rafting, caving, guiding or skiing – as well as taking part in community festivals and events. With a vast variety of terrain and pristine surroundings, Yellowhead County caters to all types of hikers. Hiking trails in our canyons and hoodoos offer a unique Alberta perspective. You can camp in one of seven County campgrounds, or our numerous Provincial Parks or Wildland Parks where swimming, boating, and some of the best fishing in the province abound. There are also a multitude of private campgrounds in the County.

Don't just visit during the summer months. Yellowhead County is a wonderland during the winter season. The County’s spectacular cross-country ski trails and snowmobile areas make for outdoor winter fun for the whole family.

Yellowhead County is becoming a seasonal vacation destination with many urban dwellers purchasing their vacation homes to take advantage of the river and mountain vistas."
