It is one of the most modern of Portugal, by incorporating cutting-edge technologies: biofilter and ultraviolet treatment. It is responsible for sewage treatment for a vast area stretching from Brandoa (Amadora) Vila Franca de Xira, or receives an amount of 40 000m ³ of water equivalent to those produced by 700 000 inhabitants, which gives an average 2 million liters / hour.
